STOLEN

NBC 7’s Investigates team led a year-long investigation into child trafficking in San Diego County. After months of interviews, court documents, jailhouse recordings, and undercover operations, the team was left with a massive undertaking to compile their discoveries into a seven-part documentary series, called STOLEN.

I was brought onto the team after the first drafts of the episodes were completed. I provided editorial input, from grammar mistakes to After Effects tutorials. Then, with the finalized videos, I re-watched and marked every moment I felt was compelling for social. I created social videos, social cards, and thumbnails in the end, using templates I created from scratch in After Effects and Photoshop. These resources have been shared by NBC 7 and our talent and partners.

STOLEN SOCIAL VIDEOS:
Using the finalized episodes, I converted the landscape videos into a square template with branding and added open captioning. Both meant to help mobile users stop and watch the content as easy as possible.

STOLEN SOCIAL CARDS:
I created a series of social cards to highlight important moments in the documentary, using stills from the videos and a template of my own creation.

STOLEN THUMBNAILS:
I also created the thumbnails for each episode in the series. These appear on NBC 7’s website, YouTube channel, and apps on Apple TV and Roku.

Watch STOLEN:

Each episode has its own article, companion podcast, and more. There are also many additional resource guides related to the series on NBC 7’s website. Most notably, I assisted in the landing pages for episodes five and seven.
